Foresters Log – Field Trip Checklist

Welcome to the Tribal Forestry Student Summit II, 2022!

We are excited to be able to host this Summit!

We have a field trip planned to visit 4FRI forest restoration treatments, see active logging treatments, see the impacts of recent wildland fires and flooding, and interact with Forest Service practitioners.

We will be traveling in vans to sites in the forest.  Please be prepared.

We are recommending the following preparations for the field trip:

Flagstaff is at 7,500 feet elevation. Please bring sun shield protection

  • Hat,
  • Sun screen,
  • Appropriate attire

Make sure to hydrate.

  • Bottled water will be provided, but
  • Bring a water bottle,
  • Avoid power drinks etc…

Footware

  • All the tour sites will not require much walking,
  • Sturdy foot ware is recommended,
  • Running shoes would be adequate, but
  • Hiking shoes would be better.

Attire

  • Fall weather in Flagstaff is incredible, but
  • It is unpredictable so please be prepared,
  • Layering is the best recommendation.

We will have hardhats available but please feel free to bring your own!

Northern Arizona University sits at the base of the San Francisco Peaks, on homelands sacred to Native Americans throughout the region.
We honor their past, present, and future generations, who have lived here for millennia and will forever call this place home.

NAU is an equal opportunity provider.
