In-woods Mobile Processing Concept
Development of an in-woods mobile forest products processing system may enable the manufacturing of diversified high-value products, generate employment opportunities, and minimize transportation costs while reducing the threat of catastrophic wildfire. This in-woods processing cluster concept can produce and ship value-added products such as biochar, cants, lumber, or mulch at the cutting site rather than incur high costs of hauling raw materials from the woods to a manufacturing facility.
